- Why can't I find a restaurant?
- There are many factors that affect searching. Maybe you are being too specific. Try to broaden your search by choosing fewer search options.
- Rather than searching for City, State, and one Cuisine, try searching for the City, State and multiple cuisines.
- If you still don't find what you're looking for, get even less specific, maybe just look in City, State.
- If you are searching by restaurant name, try reducing the number of words in the name or the length of the words.
- If all else fails, tell your favorite restaurants about us and let them know they are able to get a FREE listing on the Where-to-dine.com website!
- How do I search by Restaurant Name?
- Searching by the first option, "Any Word in Restaurant Name Begins With".
- With this option you are searching for any of the words in the name, this option
gives you more results,. For example, if you wanted to find California Pizza, and typed in
California, you would get all of California Pizza as well as California Cafe, Adesso California Cafe,
and any other restaurants with California anywhere in their name.
- If your search contains multiple words, the order doesn't matter. For example, searching for Cafe Budapest will find The Budapest Cafe.
- The second choice is, "Restaurant Name Begins With".
- This is a more specific search. You are searching for only the restaurants
that begin with the words you specify, for example, California. This will give you California
Pizza, and any other restaurants which begin with the word California.
- If you are entering multiple words, the words must be in the order they appear in the restaurant's name.
- For each type of name search, you may also enter in just the beginning of a word. For example, entering in the word Buda, rather than Budapest.
- Spelling does count! If you don't know the exact spelling of a restaurant, you may not get back the results you are looking for. Try shortening the name or entering fewer words.
- When searching for a restaurant, I got the following message: The name you entered contained only "stop words". What are "stop words"
- Stop words are not searchable. Here is a list of stop words: a, the, and, of.
- If you are looking for a name that contains a "stop word", the word will be ignored.
- Why should I register?
- By registering you are able to customize your search. For example, if you usually dine within 10 miles of your home, you
don't need to re-enter that same criteria each time you wish to search for a place to eat. Aside from saving
time filling in search fields, we also give you one click driving directions from your home or work.
- Why should I enter my restaurant on your website?
- By listing on the Where-to-dine.com website, you are advertising your restaurant to a national
audience. Even if you have your own website, unless your patrons know your URL, they may never find you.
Where-to-dine.com has visitors from all over the world. They may be searching for a restaurant just like
yours. Let them find you by registering and listing today! Besides, it's FREE!
- I performed a search to find restaurants within 30 miles of a town and want to know why I'm getting results that don't make sense.
- The search you are performing calculates the distance between two lattitude and longitude pairs.
The results that are produced show the distance "as the crow flies", not driving distance. This should
only occur in few cases such as, Long Island or Cape Cod. Long Island is only 30 miles away from Connecticut,
but driving distance can be more than 200 miles.
